Making Remote Onboarding Actually Work

A Purchasing department used to hold a two-day, in-person orientation for trainees. This orientation is crucial to maintain essential knowledge transfer. However, COVID-19 social distancing measures introduced a challenge to deliver these orientation sessions in the traditional format.

Into the Unknown

Fresh out of university, I dove into the depths of the company and its training program, seeking ways to refine and modernize it. I researched, questioned, and explored every aspect, ultimately crafted eLearning curriculum that not only enriched our training program but also professionalized the Learning and Development department, which I had the honor to shape and promote.

The Confrontation

The world shifted and so did my workload. With COVID-19 forcing us online, I led the design and development of our online resource center, complementing our new virtual instructor-led training approach. Balancing this with a company-wide rebranding and my master thesis, it was a year of tribulations that challenged my resilience and determination.

I survived and launched the resource center as our main learning hub, from eLearning courses to design challenges to master classes.

My passion wasn't just sustained, it was multiplied. I guided a growing team, focused on strategic development, and showcased our department's value to the Executive team. It was a year of advancement and reaffirming my passion.

I threw myself in research - understanding the platform's users, their needs, and the market trends.  It was a year of exploration, adaptation, and finding my ground.

A surprising pivot into community management became an invaluable chapter. 

I found myself owning a Community MVP Program, orchestrating 48 global leaders to create 1000+ learning and community activities for 40000+ developers while expanding the program footprint in new territories. It was a year of connection, impact, and discovery.
